We all define growth differently. For some, it’s stepping into a new challenge. For others, it’s deepening expertise, refining your strengths to match what’s emerging, or helping someone else navigate theirs.
The Employee Development Center (EDC) is the University’s talent development platform designed to support your exploration and growth.
What is the EDC
The EDC fosters career growth by assisting employees in exploring career journeys and matching them with mentors and short-term opportunities within the University system, called gigs. Through the EDC, employees can learn more about new areas of interest without leaving their current position.

Why the EDC?
- The University's most valuable asset is its employees.
- The University created the EDC in response to the 2023 Employee Engagement Survey data indicating staff want more opportunities and manager support for training and professional development.
- Research consistently shows many employees prefer learning through on-the-job training, mentoring, and job shadowing. (LinkedIn Learning's 2021 Workplace Learning)
- The continuous learning and development opportunities offered in the EDC, ensures all contributors, even the strongest ones, continue developing and keep their skills relevant. This continued growth also safeguards the University's ability to meet future challenges.
