Guidance on Graduate Assistant Employment Offers

The “Maintenance of Status Quo” notice is no longer in effect following the union vote but its purpose to “preserve existing conditions and promote a free and fair environment for the resolution of this question of representation” remains a mandate while the University and the GLU-UE negotiate the first contract.

During this time period, the administration, including faculty and administrators, cannot unilaterally change the terms and conditions of anyone in the bargaining unit, even if the individuals are agreeable, unless the University notifies the Union of the proposed change and gives them an opportunity to bargain.
