ELR has partnered with the Senate Office, Graduate School, etc. to develop a resource guide for shared governance committee chairs. GAs may participate in shared governance based on their student, not employment, status. The University cannot “direct deal” with GAs, meaning negotiate terms and conditions of employment directly with them. Doing so would bypass the union, which is why individuals in their employment status are not permitted to serve on a shared governance committee. To the extent there are shared governance committees in your campus, college, or unit, please share this resource with the chairs.
