Vacation is paid time off from work for you to use for your personal activities and to create a healthy balance between your work and personal life. Be sure to talk with your supervisor about the best time to use your vacation leave.
You can request time away or view the balance and rate of accrual for your vacation time in MyU by clicking My Time.

Exchanging Vacation for Pay
If you’re about to reach the maximum amount of vacation leave you’re allowed to accrue, you have options that will help you prevent the loss of vacation leave, including taking up to a week of vacation or receiving a pay out.
Changing Jobs or Leaving the University
If you transfer positions, some or all of your unused vacation time will transfer with you. The amount of transferred time depends on how much unused vacation time you have and which job classification you transfer to.
If you leave University employment, your unused vacation time will be paid out with the following exception: If you have 10 or more years of service at the University and 200 or more hours of unused vacation, the money from the payout of your vacation will be put into a Health Care Savings Plan.
Returning to the University
If you are a former employee and are returning to work at the University, you may have your former vacation leave accumulation rate and eligibility reinstated under certain conditions. You may also have other types of benefits reinstated when you return to the University.
Donating Vacation Leave
The University offers a vacation donation program that supports eligible Civil Service and non-faculty Labor-Represented employees who are experiencing serious medical hardship or are caring for immediate family members with serious medical conditions and have exhausted all their paid leave options.
