Now is the best time to get your annual flu and COVID-19 vaccine, before the infection rates increase in the community heading into the colder months. The CDC encourages you to speak with your health care provider to determine which vaccines are right for you.
As a reminder, both the flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are covered as preventive care under University medical plans. Here’s what you need to know:
- If you receive your vaccine from an in-network medical provider (such as a clinic, primary care physician, or hospital), it will be covered under your medical benefits.
- If you choose to get vaccinated at a pharmacy, coverage will be provided through Prime Therapeutics, our pharmacy benefits manager. Be sure to present your pharmacy benefit card at the time of service. Note: although this is provided under the pharmacy benefit, no prescription is required.
If you have questions about your coverage or finding in-network providers, please reach out to Medica directly using the contact information on the back of your insurance card.
