The Board of Regents approved the revised Civil Service Rules. The changes include:
- Rule 11.5.13 ā General Provisions for Sick Leave and Bereavement Leave
- Employees working more than 50% are eligible for 3 days of paid bereavement leave upon the death of an immediate family member plus an additional discretionary leave of up to 2 days.
- One (1) day of paid bereavement leave upon the death of other family members.
- Reasonable paid discretionary bereavement leave upon the death of a University colleague.
- An immediate family member is defined to include:
- Employeeās spouse or domestic partner;
- Employeeās biological, adoptive, step or foster child or ward
- Employeeās parent or parental equivalent
- Employeeās sibling
- Employeeās loss of pregnancy (e.g. miscarriage, stillbirth)
- Employeeās spouse/domestic partnerās biological, adoptive, step or foster child or ward
- Employeeās spouse/domestic partnerās parent or parental equivalent
- Employeeās spouse/domestic partnerās sibling
- Employeeās spouse / domestic partnerās loss of pregnancy (e.g., miscarriage, stillbirth).
- Employeeās other family member in this instance shall mean:
- Employeeās or employeeās spouse/domestic partnerās children-in-law (or equivalent)
- Employeeās grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and first cousins of the employee.
