Much of the information was very practical, but it was organized in such a comprehensive manner with the weekly topics that it made me think about the role of a supervisor in new ways. It also helped me to proactively adjust the way I manage my team, beginning with communication styles and adjusting to various forms of check-ins, and moving into long-term ideas around goal-setting. Overall, the course felt designed to really help supervisors consider best practices and it opened my eyes to some of the different types of roles at the University. In the end, we are all working toward a wide variety of goals to help our teams become even more successful and that was great to experience with the cohort.
