2025 AFSCME Day on the Hill

This year’s AFSCME Day on the Hill is Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

During the annual event, AFSCME members gather to visit the state legislature and lobby for the University of Minnesota. The University fully supports AFSCME in its effort to emphasize the University's importance to the state of Minnesota. To show its commitment to employees who want to engage in the day’s activities, the University allows any AFSCME union member to participate without loss of pay.

Supervisors can support AFSCME engagement by working with their interested AFSCME employees to arrange for maximum participation in the day's events. 

Please note the following:

  • Participating AFSCME employees shall be allowed time off with pay that is not subtracted from vacation, sick leave, or compensatory time balances. 
  • Employees interested in attending the event are expected to contact their supervisors in advance so appropriate staffing arrangements can be made in the department.

The University supports this activity and asks supervisors to work with AFSCME employees to ensure all who want to participate are able.
