A Changing HR Service Model 

Human Resources staff across the University are working to make HR services more equitable, compliant, and efficient through the PEAK Initiative in order to better serve our faculty, staff, students, and job seekers.

The HR Operations and Talent Acquisition processes that will change are: 

  • Post a position
  • Hire an employee
  • Employment changes
  • End appointments
  • Reclassify a position
  • Background check requests
  • Manage Persons of Interest

For those served by HR PEAK, the timing for when requests are submitted for these services will change and need to be made seven (7) business days before the effective date. 

Look for more information from your local HR staff and leadership on timing for requesting these services if you are in a Phase 1 or Phase 2 campus, college, or unit. 

HR Operations and Talent Acquisition Services

Below is a detailed outline of the HR Operations and Talent Acquisition services broken down by team and responsibilities. Adjacent teams provide support to each other as needed.

Talent Acquisition

Full-cycle recruiting for non-teaching P&A, Civil Service and Labor Represented positions, services include:

  • Intake Meeting
    • Develop a recruitment plan, source, and outreach*
  • Qualification Screening
  • Determine/share qualified candidates
  • Complete initial phone interviews
  • Initiate SparkHire requests
  • Assist with interview questions
  • Consultation on salary
  • Review/approve offer letter
  • Assist with reference checks/Skills Survey
Staff Operations
  • Create and maintain PeopleSoft positions for hires, rehires, and transfers
  • Post job openings (if using PeopleSoft Recruiting Solutions)
  • Input requested details in Recruiting Solutions for job requisitions, such as Search Committee*
  • Initiate and monitor progress of Background checks for employees and non-employees
  • Initiate I9
  • Enter hires, rehires, and transfers into PeopleSoft
  • Create and send offer letters for full-cycle recruited positions 
Workforce Data Management
  • Edit employment records for existing employees. Including job data, additional pay, and position changes
  • Enter additional appointments for existing employees*
  • Enter terminations in the system
  • Ensure data integrity between job and position data, as well as other HR data areas such as payroll and benefits
  • Enter and maintain non-employee records (POIs) in the system
  • Perform payroll pre-confirmation audit against requests entered in the TDX system
