HR Update
On January 21, the Board of Regents approved the first collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the Graduate Labor Union-United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (GLU-UE). As part of that CBA, eligible graduate assistants can now enroll in a health care and/or dependent care flexible spending account (FSA) through the University.
What is an FSA?
You can learn more about health care and dependent care FSAs on the Office of Human Resources website, including:
- Who is eligible to participate
- Eligible expenses
- Contribution limits
- The “use it or lose it” rule
How do I elect an FSA for 2025?
Download and complete the 2025 FSA Application form. Follow the instructions at the bottom of the first page to either email (preferred), mail, or fax the completed form to the Office of Human Resources.
How long do I have to submit my FSA enrollment?
If you are eligible and would like an FSA for 2025, you have 30 calendar days from the date the Board of Regents approved the CBA to submit your application. That means your completed application must be postmarked no later than February 20, 2025.
After that date, you will not be able to enroll in an FSA until the next Open Enrollment period or if you have a qualifying life event.
When does FSA coverage start?
Your coverage will be effective as of February 1, 2025, as long as you enroll before the February 20 deadline.
