The Leadership Competency Framework

Created by Talent Strategy (Leadership and Talent Development or LTD at the time) in the Office of Human Resources, the purpose of this framework is to outline the leadership expectations, skills and behaviors required at each leadership level in the organization.

Subject matter experts who build and utilize leadership competency models were consulted during development of these assessments. Input and recommendations from past, current, and emerging UMN leaders throughout the University helped the work group ensure the competency areas align to the most critical skills required to support the University’s strategic priorities.
