Leadership Competency Framework This competency model helps leaders recognize the key behaviors and capabilities essential for their own leadership success and for driving effectiveness within their unit. One (of many) ways to gauge and develop these critical behaviors is through a 360 assessment, which provides valuable insights from multiple perspectives.

University focused The Leadership Challenges, Competencies and Behaviors framework is specifically designed to align with the University of Minnesota organizational strategy.
Research based The development of the assessments and guidance was led by a work group of leaders within Talent Strategy in the Office of Human Resources. Extensive consultation and input from past, current, and emerging UMN leaders throughout the University helped the work group identify the competency areas most critical to the University’s strategic priorities and opportunities.
Shared Framework Our competency model offers a unified framework for developing core skills and leadership capabilities that go beyond specific roles, enhancing job-specific competencies and promoting consistent leadership growth.
Flexible options Leaders looking to understand and assess their strengths and opportunities have a range of options to get started from completing a self assessment to work with their direct supervisor through a stakeholder feedback assessment.
